At The Second Chance Foundation we understand the importance of staying informed and equipped. Announcements are made available to uphold interests of the incarcerated and former incarcerated women, as well as Scarborough, Toronto and GTA community at large.
The Second Chance Foundation's management is arranging 4 excursions in the month of July of 2025. Sign up for exciting outings to The Toronto Zoo, The Aga Khan Museum, Ripley's Aquarium and/or The Bata Shoe Museum. Sign up for these free excursion must be in our office on or before 4:00 PM on Friday June 20th. Please contact administration at admin@thesecondchancefoundation.ca or speak to our administration representative in Main Office and Training and Recreational Programs Centre (3171 Eglinton Ave. East, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada M1J 2G8 ; Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
1. The Toronto Zoo: For all those who wish to attend, please send an email to register at admin@thesecondchancefoundation.ca. Please provide your full name, an email address, preferable, and a phone number for contact. If you have children that you would like to attend (maximum 4), please provide their Names, and ages. There are 2 age category for the Zoo, ages 3 – 12, and ages 13+ 2.
2. The Aga Khan Museum: This also requires a sign up at admin@thesecondchancefoundation.ca, as per above. This particular outing will be on a Wednesday between 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

4. The Bata Shoe Museum: This will be mostly a woman centered outing, but we know, there are mothers who would like to attend and have children; depend on how many fits this category that sign up, we will see about getting a special exemption for them.
Please note: Once we have our sign up list, we will notify every one of the dates and times of each excursion. Each person and or family is responsible for getting to the locations on their own, TSCF will provide tickets for the groups, on arrival.
Celebrating the gamers and creators - Toronto Video Game Month is held June 2 to July 20, 2025 allowing everyone to play and connect with Toronto’s thriving gaming community. From esports tournaments to massive outdoor games, major studio activations to thought-provoking workshops and expert talks - something to explore for everyone.
TSCF PICK Between the Public and the Private: Vector Festival Game Residency Keynote (presented by: InterAccess, Toronto Games Week, & Hand Eye Society) - FREE, but reservation is required. To be held on June 14, 2025 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at InterAccess - Entrance faces Lisgar Park (32 Lisgar Street, Toronto, ON, M6J 0C7). Deciding on the summer reading list is made fun with Toronto Public Library. Have you found that perfect reading with an unethical main character, book about a global issue, book likely to become a classic, book about an athlete or a book on another awesome topic? Participate in TPL Reading Challenge.

Eligibility - An applicant (and their family) must meet the following criteria: (1) Live in the city of Toronto (2) Have a before-tax total family income (for all family members over the age of 18) that is below the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) threshold. Fees are effective January 1, 2025.
Amounts per year (non-transferable between family members)
- Child/Youth (up to age 24): $669.65
- Adults/Older Adults (age 25 and over): $308.43
Welcome Policy recreation fee subsidy is valid for a 12-month period and funds do not carry over into the next year. Residents need to re-apply and submit required documents each year. People who receive Ontario Works are automatically eligible and should contact their caseworker.
Effective February 7th, 2025 TSCF will be making some major changes to its food bank set up, operation and distribution. The office will be contacting each and every client individually to update the records and schedule appointments, during a time period that will work with your schedule.
Appointments are on first come, first serve basis, so whom every respond when we reach out, they are the ones to get any coveted appointment slots.
The food bank will be operating, based on appointment only, from the hours of 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM every Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, except for holidays, or any unexpected occurrences beyond the organization's control.
